The Kinda Canal

The Kinda Canal

The Kinda canal flows gently through the idyllic landscape of Östergötland, from the imposing landscape of oaks and the extensive plains in the north to the natural beauty of the woodland areas in the south.

A journey on the Kinda canal passes through 5 lakes and 15 locks and will also take you past castles, country manors and smaller communities. Those who do not have their own means of transport with which to explore the Kinda canal have the opportunity to go on beautiful day trips or shorter outings on the passenger vessel M/S Kind. The Kinda canal is part of Stångån and is connected with the Göta canal via the Roxen lake. The locks are operated manually by lock keepers as they have been since the canal was constructed in the 1860-70s. The pace is therefore calm and peaceful.
